What's Up Wednesday
I'm a little late posting today, but better late than never!
What’s Up Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Erin L Funk and Jaime Morrow, and the idea is to let other bloggers know where you are with any writing and reading goals you may have.1. What I'm reading
I finished A Witch in Winter last week - it was really good. I can't read the next one in the series just yet, because my mum accidentally got me the first and third in the series, thinking it was the second. I'll be getting it as soon as I get paid, though.
I decided to read The Host by Stephenie Meyer after that - I've read it before, it's one of my favourite books. I saw the movie again the other day and it made me want to re-read it. It didn't take me long, and it was just as amazing as always.
I'm now reading The Vanished Knight by our very own Misha Gericke. I won it in a competition a couple of weeks ago, and it's great so far.
2. What I'm writing
*Sigh* not much. The illness that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago has been clinging on - some days I'm fine, others I feel terrible - so I really haven't been getting much writing done. I'm still ploughing through the first re-read of my NaNo first draft, but it's taking a long time. I'm on the final stretch though, so hopefully I'll be able to start rewrites soon.

I'm a little disappointed, because there were a couple of writing competitions I wanted to enter this month. I'll just have to make up for it in February; I've felt pretty good for the last couple of days now, so hopefully it's really gone this time.
3. What else I've been up to
I went to visit my sister last night, and we had a great time eating pizza and baking cakes and flapjacks. I've missed spending time with her since I moved away, but I think I'll make it a weekly thing to visit her - I go back to my home town every Tuesday/Wednesday anyway, to see my boyfriend.

4. What inspires me right now
Music is quite inspiring to me right now - I'm getting a lot of story ideas from songs, so that's good for when I get started writing again. I'm also quite motivated, maybe because I'm determined to do better in February.
Whatever sickness I had definitely lingered, too. Everyone I talked to around me said that one thing: it lingers. I swear I was better and two nights ago I could barely stay awake at 8:30 at night. Hope it clears up for you soon.
ReplyDeleteYou are probably the first person I've heard that liked The Host, book and movie. Most people have either said it was OK or terrible. I'm tempted to watch the movie since I think it's on Netflix streaming.
I hope you feel better soon. I feel your illness-induced struggles. My brain cooperates for brief periods of time right now... usually halfway between Lemsip doses :P
ReplyDeleteI love music, too ^_^ Listening to some Daft Punk right now. Aaaaaah ^_^
Music is where I get a lot of my ideas! Rock on.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you are better Miss Laura . . . . . Battle on with the writing, it is one of those strange love it hate it things, you have the ability to write great things so keep the faith and give yourself a few minutes each day to scribble an idea or a thought . . . .it will all come together in a grand master plan in the end...... Look at me I write and draw most days although in my case it is mad rubbish, but I will not let that stop me enjoying it. . . . . and I note the A to Z folk are starting to spread the word, I hope you plan to have another go this year.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you're enjoying my book so far.
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon! :-)
Glad you've been reading and relaxing a little,Laura. Hope you feel fine again soon. Thinking of you and wishing you a great weekend.
