Celebrate the Small Things

Image
Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly bloghop now hosted by Lexa Cain . The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week, no matter how small. This week I'm celebrating: - Finally getting some writing done for the A to Z - cutting it a bit close!  - I went to see Insurgent at the cinema on Tuesday, and I thought it was great - better than I thought it would be. I've also watched both The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Mockingjay with my mum this week, since the latter was recently released on DVD. Catching Fire is my favourite, but I do love the rebel scene in Mockingjay. - After a difficult week at work I have the whole weekend off to recover, which I'm very much looking forward to.

What's Up Wednesday

What’s Up Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Erin L Funk and Jaime Morrow , and the idea is to let other bloggers know where you are with any writing and reading goals you may have. 1. What I'm Reading Since my last WUW post (back at the beginning of March, whoops!) I've read four books: Trouble by Non Pratt, All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, Unspeakable by Abbie Rushton and We Were Liars by E. Lockhart.  The first two I loved, the third was OK but I really didn't like We Were Liars. I'd heard wonderful things about it, but I didn't like the way it was written and I just didn't enjoy the story. I had to force myself to keep reading to get to the end.  I'm now reading More Than This , by Patrick Ness. I'm enjoying it so far; it's unlike anything I've read before. 2. What I'm Writing (+ Writing Goal) I've had something of a writing block lately, but yesterday I managed to sit down and write three of my

A to Z Theme Reveal

So, I completely forgot that this was yesterday! It was my weekend in at work, so I think I can be forgiven. Better late than never, anyway!  So my theme this year is: Flash fiction!  I've always loved writing and reading flash fiction, and I've always wanted to do it for the A to Z challenge. I'll be picking a word every day and writing a piece of flash fiction to go with it. Hopefully you'll all enjoy what I come up with. I've seen a lot of great themes out there so far, I'm looking forward to seeing what people come up with once April starts.

This week I'm celebrating:  - I had a day off yesterday and I spent the day tidying the house; it looks great now. It's nice to have a tidy house; now I just need to keep it tidy! - I made a banana loaf on Tuesday and it's so good! I like to eat it spread with Nutella, banana and chocolate go so well together! - My boyfriend took me out for a surprise birthday meal on Sunday; we went to an Italian restaurant we'd never been to before, since we both love Italian, and it was delicious. We'll definitely be going there again!

This week I'm celebrating: - It's my birthday today, so I'm spending the day in York with my mum, whose birthday it was yesterday. Lots of celebrating for us this week! - I've had this week off work, and it's been lovely. I went to Grimsby to visit my sister for a couple of days, since I don't see her much at all any more. We had a Star Wars marathon and made lemon drizzle cake, yum!  - I gave my kitchen a good clean yesterday; it always makes me feel good when my house is nice.

Goals for March

A bit late in the month for a goals post, I know, but better late than never! Here are my February goals: - Finish reading the Harry Potter series -  Done! I loved the re-read, like always, but it's nice to be able to read books I haven't read before. - Continue with my NaNo edits - I've done a little bit of work on these, including improving my scene list to make it easier to do the edits.  - Plan for the A to Z Challenge - I have words for each letter now, I just need to write the posts!  And here are my goals for March: - Read 4 books - This should be pretty easy, since I've read two since finishing Harry Potter last week. It really is so nice to read something new again!  - Write all of my A to Z posts - This is the goal I'm most worried about this month, since I've left it a bit late to start writing the posts, but I'm determined to get it done before the A to Z starts in April.  - Revise 3 chapters of my NaNo novel - I'm

IWSG and What's Up Wednesday

The Insecure Writer's Support Group was created by Alex J. Cavanaugh as a place where writers can talk about their insecurities once a month, and receive encouragement and support from other writers. It's such an amazing group, it even has its own website now, which you can visit here . Despite many attempts over the last month to get back into writing, I still haven't got much of it done. I'm not letting this get to me, though; I've been really busy at work, plus getting used to living in a house without parents for the first time in my life. Housework takes up a lot of my time on my days off!  I figure the main problem is time management; I need to make sure I have time for work, housework, writing and of course a little fun time. From Saturday I'm on holiday from work for 9 days, and I plan to use this time to get ahead with both housework and my writing; I've figured out that what I need is a large block of uninterrupted writing time, to real
