Goals for January and Celebrate

I did pretty well with my goals for December, but they were fairly easy:

- Read 5 books - I read 6 books in December, and achieved my goal to read 50 books for the year.

- See The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug - I can't believe I haven't seen this yet. I really really hope I get to see it soon!

- Get my Christmas shopping done - I got it all done and ready in time for Christmas day. I'm going to try to be more organised next Christmas, but I say that every year.

Here are my goals for January:

- Read my NaNo draft and start revisions - I'm looking forward to getting stuck into this. I know there's a lot of work to be done, but I'm excited to do it.

- Read 6 books - I read 6 in December, so hopefully I'll be able to read 6 in January - I need to step it up if I want to achieve this year's goal of reading 65 books.

- Join a gym - The plans for this one are under way already, hopefully I'll be joining one within the next week.

- See The Hobbit! - Hopefully I'll be seeing this next week.

And now it's time for Celebrate the Small Things, which is a weekly bloghop hosted by Viklit over at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author. The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week.

This week I'm celebrating:

- The new year - I always see it as a new start, and I'm excited for what this year will bring.

- Spending New Year's Eve with my sister and her boyfriend at the house they just bought together - a big step! I'm slightly jealous, but I'm sure my time will come. It was a great night; at midnight we went out into the garden and watched the sky light up with fireworks. There's a chair swing on the decking, and my boyfriend and I sat on it and watched Chinese lanterns floating through the sky - it was beautiful.

- Getting back into routine - I have a very set routine, and Christmas and New Year always mess it up a little. I love the holidays, but it's nice to get back to normal.

  7. I read over my NaNo draft last month. I was surprised by how much I liked it. Definitely work to be done there, but I was happy with the story.

    Enjoy The Hobbit!

  15. Wahoo to the routine! Those sound like some great goals and I love that you are setting them monthly rather than yearly. It's the only way to go.

We saw Desolation of Smaug on Christmas Eve, and it's epic. Super awesome epic.

  16. I echo your first goal- I want to get started in editing, finally. The Desolation of Smaug is just as good as you think it's going to be- definitely go see it! And bless you for being such an avid reader! You put me to shame!

  17. Oooh I saw The Hobbit last week. I really enjoyed it but it's not as good as the first one, I felt like the dragon scenes were just a little bit too repetitive.

I was surprised, after reading all the backlash about creating a female character just for the movie, to see how much of a role she played in it but I liked her character.

Good luck with your January goals! I'm in the process of creating a 2014 bucket list myself.
