Motivation

My life hasn't been very productive lately - there are so many things that I want and need to do, but instead I spend my spare time watching TV or playing on The Sims 3. This just isn't good! I think the reason why I'm not getting things done is because I'm using the classic "I'll do it tomorrow" excuse, and then when tomorrow rolls around I think of another reason not to do it.
But not any more! I've decided to go back to the way that I organised my time while I did my degree - I'll make myself a timetable, and put down certain things that I must do each day. I really think this is the only way I'll actually get them done!
I only put this wonderful idea in to place yesterday, only filling in the timetable slot for today, but it seems to be working so far! I've been on my keyboard for the first time in a few weeks (I'm attempting to teach myself to play it, needless to say it's proving difficult) and I'm about to actually sit down and think of some words for the A to Z challenge. I've also been putting this off for a long time, because I keep thinking of different themes, but I think I've finally decided on one, so I can begin to plan out my words.
So since I seem to be more motivated with a timetable to follow, I'd better fill it out a bit more! There are a lot more things that I need to do; my bedroom needs clearing, because me and my mum have been on the verge of decorating it for about 2 years now (no exaggeration) but it's just not getting done!
I also need to get some reading done, I've been reading the same book (Game of Thrones) for ages now, but I never seem to have time to read! So I think I'll put aside at least half an hour a day for reading, because my bookshelf is full of unread books, and I also want to re-read a few of my favourites!
And then there's my writing: at the minute the only writing I do is for this blog, or the one or two articles a month I write for the magazine that I volunteer for. So I'm thinking I'll try a few of these writing prompts and things that people blog about, and see where that takes me!

  1. I have days I can't get motivated too. I have also used the "To Do Today" lists, I don't know why I even tried I am a big procrastinator. : ( Can't wait to read all the A-Z Blogging though and glad you have yours figured out. I have 4 more letters to write on and I'm ready : ) I left you the Sunshine Award on my blog : )

  2. Yes yes, time-tables and decisions to get organized excite me very much!

  3. All people feel lazy, that's pretty normal, I find it gets easier to escape procrastination when you have a lot of responsibility or when other people depend on you.

Use a buddy system, it really works!

    1. That's true, I always feel more motivated when I'm doing something for someone else!

  4. I'm reading Game of Thrones too but it's taking absolutely ages. I don't have enough time either and I've seen some of the TV show so I'm kind of waiting to forget what's happened before I read it!

You are sounding super motivated! Well done :D It's addicting when you start getting things done and doing well, so I'm sure you'll be able to do everything you want! I'm terrible when it comes to motivation, I'm going to try to copy your timetable idea :D

    Have a lovely weekend!

    1. I've seen all of the TV show, so maybe that's why I'm not racing through the book: because I already know how it ends! I can't wait for the new season to start :)
I haven't kept to my timetable very well over the weekend, because I've worked a lot more hours than I thought I would, so I'm running behind! Oh well, I'll get there :)

  5. I used to do lists and put things in my diary, but I'd always forget to check them! Can't believe A to Z is only 8 days away :)

  6. I'm a huge procrastinator. The main thing that works for me is listening to audio books about how to stop procrastinating - 'The Procrastinator's Handbook' is brilliant if you like that sort of thing, as is 'Eat That Frog!' By the time I get to the end, I've usually started working on something. ;-)

  7. I like your timetable idea. I LOVE to-do lists - there's nothing more satisfying than smugly ticking off things that you've done! (And sometimes I add extra things that I've already done, just so I can tick them off - how sad?!)

  8. That's not sad, I do it too! But I don't tick things off, I do mine on my computer and when I've done each thing I turn the text green to say I've done it, and if it's something important that needs doing I make it red! Now that's sad!
