My Birthday

It was my 22nd Birthday yesterday (yay!) But unfortunately, my body decided that yesterday would be the perfect day for me to develop the flu, so I spent most of the day lying in bed at my boyfriends, wishing I'd feel better! It ruined the plans we had to go out for a nice meal, but I got a domino's pizza instead, so it wasn't a complete disaster!
Originally, I'd wanted to do something with my mum, but she had to work a late shift, so those plans fell through. Luckily for us though, it was her birthday the day before mine, and we went out for a nice meal for that. We also went shopping together on Sunday, where she bought me some clothes as my birthday presents, because I can't afford to buy my own at the minute!
She also had someone at work make this cake for me, which I absolutely love!

I haven't had any yet, but it certainly looks delicious! I can't wait to dig in :)
Anyway, I'm going to go and watch some Grey's Anatomy with my mum, and hope this damned flu goes away!

    Happy birthday!! I hope you had a nice day despite the flu! That's so sad that it had to come on that day!

    Greys Anatomy + mums is the perfect cure for almost anything. Especially with a cup of tea too :)

    Ah, man - sick on your bday?! That's worse than getting sick with the flu on your first day of the job (I've experienced both).

    On another note, have you ever used Fed Ex to deliver a slice of owl cake to anyone? lol The cakes here where I am temporarily traveling are so sweet they are inedible.

    I hope you feel better stat! Having your boyfriend and mom for support should help you endure the process.

      Oh I don't know, it must have been pretty bad getting sick on your first day!
      I hope you find some edible cake soon, it must be awful that they're too sweet!

    Happy Belated Birthday..:) I am still getting over the flu that my sweet 1.5 year daughter decided to infect her parents with as well. I know what you are(were) going through. I have no clue how you could each pizza though..WOW.

      I didn't have much of an appetite (it was practically non existent) but I don't like missing meals, so I made sure I ate something. That said, I didn't have much!
      The cake is very nice, it's a shame to ruin the owl though! I'm feeling much better, thank you :)

    I hope you're feeling better. I just got back from Arizona where I was attending a wedding and of course I had a fever the whole time.

A is for Arachne and Arlee!

Before I get to my Greek Mythology part of this post, at the request of Alex J. Cavanaugh  (great idea by the way, Alex!), I'd first like to thank Arlee Bird for coming up with the challenge in the first place. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be taking part in this amazing experience every year. Thanks, Arlee! This is one of my favourite tales from Greek mythology, so naturally I chose it for my first letter. Arachne was the daughter of a shepherd, and was famous for the beautiful tapestries she weaved. Nymphs would travel from all over to see her work, and to watch her weave. One day, a nymph asked her if her talent was a gift from the goddess Athena. Arachne protested, saying her skill was all her own, and that her weaving was better than Athena's. Athena heard of this, and challenged the girl to a weaving contest.
