House of Night Series!
This week for my reading post, I'll be talking about another of my favourite series, the House of Night series. The series is about 16 year old Zoey, who has just been 'marked' as a fledgling vampyre. Throughout the series, we follow Zoey and her friends as they go to a special school for vampyre fledglings.
Favourite Book: I don't really have a favourite book in this series, they're all pretty awesome!
Favourite Character: Aphrodite, there's no contest there! I love her honesty, and I love how she always tells it how it is. She also has some very funny lines in the series. Also, once she becomes friends with Zoey, she sticks by her throughout the whole series, no matter what happens, whereas Zoey's other friends don't.
Favourite Villain: I'm going to say Kalona here, because although he's a villain, he does care about things, like his children, and Zoey.
Favourite Subject: Equestrian studies! I would have loved a class like this at school, because I absolutely love horseriding but can't afford to go anymore :(
Least favourite Book: Chosen is my least favourite novel in the series, because I don't like some of the stupid decisions that Zoey makes! She learns her lesson in the end, though.
Least favourite Character: Erik Night, I don't think he has any redeeming qualities at all. He's too possessive and not trusting enough, and he's just a horrible person!
Least favourite Villain: Neferet. I really, really hate Neferet. I can't wait until the end of the series, where she'll get what she deserves! (Hopefully!)
Least favourite Subject: I don't have a least favourite subject from the House of Night, because they're all awesome! Who wouldn't want to learn archery and fencing at school?
I got some of my inspiration for my 'water' series from these novels, as vampyres and fledgling vampyres are able to have affinities with any of the 5 elements, and the main character, Zoey, has an affinity with all 5.

I've only read the first book in this series, but haven't read the others. :)
ReplyDeleteNew follower here... fab blog! I came by to say thanks for joining the "What If?" Blogfest! I'm so stoked! :D
You should read the rest, they're very good :)
DeleteThanks! As soon as I saw it I know it was a blogfest for me, it's going to be loads of fun! :)
I don't think I've ever heard of this series of books but damn they sound good Laura, great review.
ReplyDeleteThanks! They're very good, writing this review has made me want to re-read them really badly! :)
DeleteI read this series too and I think the new book is out soon. Sometimes I get frustrated with how long it's been dragged out though - including the little novellas that are out now too lol!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! I haven't read any of the novella's, I just want to know how Zoey finally defeats Neferet! It has been dragged out for a long time.
DeleteI've read Dragon's Oath but I've yet to read Lenobia's Vow. I would recommend you read them because Dragon's Oath makes you understand his actions more in the main books. And yes, I just want her to die now too lol! Do you find the dialogue a bit cringey and teenish at times? I was a teen when I started reading them so I didn't mind back then but now I'm like, "stop talking like that" lol!
DeleteI do think that sometimes, I just think "I'm sure I never used to speak like that!" But I guess it does make it a bit more realistic!
DeleteI might get the novella's then, if they give more insight into the characters :)
I didn't read this series. But my friends loved it. Maybe I'll read too.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good series, well worth reading. It's a little annoying at times, but then most series are! :)
