Angel by L. A. Weatherly!
Today I'm going to review a novel that I finished reading last week: Angel by L. A. Weatherly. It's about a girl called Willow who is not like other girls - not only is she good with cars, she can see people's futures just by touching them. She doesn't know where she gets this mysterious power from, but Alex, who knows the truth about angels, does, which is why he considers Willow his enemy. However, the two are thrown together when others discover Willow's power, and the novel follows them as they try to keep hidden from the people who want them dead.
Favourite Character: this is a toss up between Alex and Willow. I love Willow because she is very likeable (unlike some other main characters I've encountered recently) and she doesn't depend on Alex to survive. In fact, at one point she protects him. It's nice to see a female protagonist who can look after herself. I also love Alex, because as well as being really hardcore, he also has a soft side.
Least Favourite Character: The angels as a whole, particularly Raziel. He's like the leader angel, and he's just horrible!
Positive Aspects: When I first saw it I just thought it was another book about angels, but I love how we see the angels in a completely different light, because they're the bad guys. I also enjoyed the concept of Willow being a half-angel, especially since most angel-related books I've read have the main character as a fragile human girl who needs her angel boyfriend to look after her, so this book was refreshing.
I also think the book had really good pacing, as there were no points where I wanted to skip to the end, and it pulled me in nicely. I enjoyed watching the relationship between Alex and Willow progress, especially since they hated each other at first!
Negative Aspects: To me the ending seemed a little rushed - it seemed to happen so fast! But that's about the only criticism I can think of, and it was still written really well.
Overall it was a very good book and I enjoyed reading it, I would rate it 4 stars. I'll definitely be reading the next one to find out what happens next!

You have a knack of making really girly books sound awesome to me Laura, having angels as villains is kind of cool and the premise is just amazing. It sounds cool that she's put together with her enemy too.
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks! That's why I liked it, because it has such a different concept than the books I've already read :)
DeleteI never would have thought angels as bad guys!
ReplyDeleteNo me neither, it's a great idea though! I love how it's been written, it's kind of like they're the bad guys because they have to be, it's very interesting :)
DeleteVery strange concept!
ReplyDeleteYeah I thought so too, it works well though! :)
DeleteSounds interesting. I don't know if I would read it, I doubt it is my cup of tea, but then I've reader stranger books who ended up to be favourites. I'll keep this one in mind! First things first though: Game of Thrones!
ReplyDeleteHaha I don't blame you for wanting to read Game of Thrones :)
DeleteSounds like a great book! My older sister read this book and thought it was great, I'll have to check it out sometime. Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! It is a good book, I would recommend it :)
DeleteHey Laura! How have you been?
ReplyDeleteNice review :) I haven't heard of this book but it sounds quite interesting :)
I hope you are well and having a nice summer!
Hi! I've been good thanks, you?
DeleteThanks! It is an interesting read :)
I'm having a good summer, a little too hot though! I prefer winter, but it is nice to see the sun :)
All books these days seem to be so rushed!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's true! I can't remember the last time I read a book that didn't seem rushed! :)
