Celebrate the Small Things

Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly bloghop hosted by Viklit over at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author. The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week.


This week I'm celebrating: 

- The lovely weather we've been having. I'm a winter girl at heart, but I have to admit it's been nice to see some summer sunshine (even if I do get a little tetchy when I'm too hot)

- Another bank holiday on Monday means I get three days off instead of my usual two again. I'm planning on spending the day writing - something I haven't been able to do in months. 

- Making progress on my rewrites - I've only done a scene and a half, but that's better than not doing any at all.

    Enjoy your extra day off! We have Memorial Day here on Monday, so three day weekend for a lot of folks.

    I'm also a winter girl. It is nice to have some warmth and sunshine, but here in Florida I could do with the extreme heat and high temps! lol

    Yay for three day weekends! Making progress on rewrites is always worth celebrating, because it isn't always easy. I also have to say that I love the word tetchy, so thanks for using it!

    An extra day off is always great. So far it is still chilly and rainy here around Buffalo, NY. Still waiting for spring to kick in, but heard we're in for a nice weekend. Good luck on your writing even a little progress is a good thing.

    The weather has been glorious, shame about the rain today though. I suppose it is Bank Holiday weekend ...

    Enjoy your 3-days. Any progress on writing is still progress, so it sounds like you're doing well to me. I totally hear you on the wonderful winter days, but a little sun (as long as it doesn't get too hot) is wonderful. Here's wishing you the perfect rays!

    Glad you were able to enjoy your long weekend of good weather. I'm currently working on some editing myself. :/ Not exactly my favorite thing to do. Hope you got a lot of writing accomplished. Have a wonderful day. Eva

So I actually wrote this piece for April's WEP, but I was ill so didn't get to post it in the end. I'm quite glad, as it suits this month's theme so much more. The Insecure Writer's Support Group was created by Alex J. Cavanaugh as a place where writers can talk about their insecurities once a month, and receive encouragement and support from other writers. A is for Arachne and Arlee!

Before I get to my Greek Mythology part of this post, at the request of Alex J. Cavanaugh  (great idea by the way, Alex!), I'd first like to thank Arlee Bird for coming up with the challenge in the first place. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be taking part in this amazing experience every year. Thanks, Arlee! This is one of my favourite tales from Greek mythology, so naturally I chose it for my first letter. Arachne was the daughter of a shepherd, and was famous for the beautiful tapestries she weaved. Nymphs would travel from all over to see her work, and to watch her weave. One day, a nymph asked her if her talent was a gift from the goddess Athena. Arachne protested, saying her skill was all her own, and that her weaving was better than Athena's. Athena heard of this, and challenged the girl to a weaving contest.
