Bruges!

I’ve finally gotten around to writing my post about Bruges! I went with my mum and sister and a few people from work, as it was someone from work who organised it, and my mum and I work at the same place.

We set off on the Tuesday night on an overnight ferry, which was fun, although the sea was quite rough! Only one person from our group got seasick, so it wasn’t too bad. When we arrived the next morning we took a coach into Bruges and went to find our hotel, which was elegant and welcoming. I think our hotel room was about 10 times bigger than the tiny cabin the three of us had to share on the ferry!
This is the carriage we rode in - there was a blanket and
everything, I felt really old fashioned!
Once we’d all gotten settled, we headed out to find the Christmas market, and found out that you can go on horse and carriage rides through the city, so of course we went on one! It lasted about half an hour, and was a great way to see the parts of the city that we probably wouldn’t have seen otherwise.

The Christmas market was really good; there were lots of stalls selling lovely things, and even an ice skating rink! Sadly we didn’t get to go ice skating, as it rained the majority of the time we were there (in that respect, it was a lot like being at home!) My mum, my sister and I took winter hats and gloves with us, so we were nice and warm, if a little wet!

There are absolutely loads of chocolate shops in Bruges, where they sold the most amazing looking chocolate! I didn’t actually get much for myself; I got quite a bit of chocolate for Christmas presents though.
We watched this chocolate log being made, it's huge!

We stayed at Bruges for two days, and then it was time to get the ferry back. The return journey wasn’t as rough as the first one, and it was nice to know we were going back home. We had a lovely meal on the ferry that night, and once we got back to England we went for a carvery breakfast before heading home.

I absolutely loved the time that I spent in Bruges, and would definitely go again; in fact, I think we’re planning on going again next year!

Apparently I didn't take many pictures, probably because of all the rain (wouldn't want to ruin my iPhone!) but here are some I did take:

  6. Amazing! I want to go to Bruges.(It's okay Tara, I had to look it up too.) However, I'd never have the self control to buy chocolate as gifts. I think my friends would get the pictures, and I'd get all the chocolate.
