Musing Mondays!

Here I am, sat at my computer at 5:46 am because my car wouldn't start, so I can't get to work until my mum gets up to take me. The same thing happened to my car last winter, I can't believe it's happened again, I need my car! So I thought I'd use the extra time to do a little blogging.

First of all, sorry I haven't posted in a while! Things have been pretty hectic for me over the last couple of week; first I went to Bruges, and when I got back I had to go straight back at work. Then I got a migraine that lasted for two days, so I fell even more behind with everything. I then had university work to do, and then back to work again. Finally I'm back on track and have a few posts planned for this week, including one where I tell you all about Bruges!

Today's post is a Musing Mondays post.

The question for today is:
What was the last book you could not finish and why?

My answer is Dark Angel by Eden Maguire.
It’s very rare that I’ll start a book and not finish reading it, but with Dark Angel I just couldn't finish it. I got about two thirds of the way through it only because I forced myself to carry on reading, but when it didn't get any better (in fact it got worse) I gave up. I didn't like the main character; she made all the wrong choices and I just didn't like her personality. I think the plot of the story had a lot of potential, but I just didn't like the way it was written. It was very slow from the beginning, and I had a lot of trouble understanding what was happening or where the story was going. It just wasn't for me.

There you go, my first post in two weeks! Sorry again for the absence, but I'm back now!

  1. Aww I'm so sorry you had a two day migraine! I hate those. But I'm so jealous of your trip to Bruges so I can't wait to read all about it :)

  3. migraine . . . not good, I used to get those but luckily they just suddenly stopped. I dont know why but I hope the same will happen to you, it is difficult for people to understand just how bad a migraine can be unless you have had them yourself.

Cars are also a pain in their own way, I have recently put a new battery in ours because it appeared to be sulking in the cold.

Hope all is going to plan at Uni....

    1. I think it's a genetic thing, my mum gets them a lot, although hers didn't start until later in life. I hope they suddenly stop!
My car's all better now (for now, anyway!).
It's going very well, thank you :)

  4. Sorry to hear about that migraine Laura, hopefully it doesn't come back for a good while. I hate the sound of that book too although I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy it, it's always annoying when a good premise is spoiled by an irritating lead character.

    1. Annoying lead characters are probably the worst thing to happen in a book, besides bad grammar! :)
