My Goals for October!

I can't believe it's October already, where does the time go?

Last month my goals were:
1. Pursue a Masters degree in Creative Writing - A lot of you already know that I did indeed get onto a Creative Writing Masters, so this goal was very successful! I'm still waiting on funding, but I've started the course and I'm loving it so far.

2. Get more overtime in - I did a lot of overtime in September, and have carried on doing a lot - I definitely need the money, especially if my funding falls through!

3. Practise my keyboard - yet again, I didn't even touch my keyboard in September. It was a busy month!

4. Get back into my blogging schedule - I think I've managed to do this quite well, apart from my Saturday posts, which I'm dropping for the moment.

5. Have an awesome time at Centerparcs! - I definitely achieved this goal - I had an amazing time and can't wait to go back next year, I think we're going to make it an annual thing.

Ok, so here are my goals for October:
1. Start planning my assignments - my first big assignment is a portfolio that has to be made up of two different genres of writing, so that should be fun! I'm thinking prose and drama, because I'm really bad at poetry! I've never really written drama before, so I'm going to have to put a lot of work in.

2. Try to find time to read - I've been on the same book since I got back from Centerparcs now, and I want to finish it (mainly so I can start J. K. Rowling's new one). I'm having trouble finding the time at the minute, because working so much is tiring me out!

3. Set aside one day a week for piano practise - I figure if I put aside an actual block of time for practising, it will make me do it. I'm thinking Tuesdays, because they're my only full day off at the moment.

That's really it for the moment, obviously I'll be carrying on with my overtime at work as well, but my main priority this month (and until January) is my portfolio - it's going to take a lot of work!

  1. I'd love to hear your reaction to The Casual Vacancy. I haven't read it, but I have heard quite a few reviews. I won't say anything else.

Goals for October? I have to draft, revise, edit, rewrite, and finish a short story by October 31. And prep for NaNo. And critique a MS for someone.

    1. I'll put a review up as soon as I've read it, I've heard some good things and some bad, so I'm not sure what to expect. I do know that it's completely different from Harry Potter, but I'm ok with that - I didn't expect it to be anything like it anyway.

Sounds like you have a busy October scheduled! Good luck getting all that done :)

  2. I'm glad you're enjoying your masters program. It sounds like lots of fun and I wish I could do something similar. Maybe after my children have gotten a bit older. I hope the program continues to go well for you.

Good luck with your October goals!
