Celebrate the Small Things
Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly bloghop now hosted by Lexa Cain. The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week, no matter how small.
This week I'm celebrating:
- Pinterest! I just discovered it this week, and I can't believe it's taken me so long! It's already given me so much inspiration, I would recommend it to anyone, no matter what your hobby is. Here is the link to my profile, it's a bit jumbled at the minute because I'm literally pinning everything in sight!
- I had a fantastic time with my friends at the weekend; the city we usually meet at (Lincoln) was holding a Steampunk festival. I didn't even know those existed! We've all decided that next year we'll attend again, but we're going to dress up!
- I'm steadily making my way through Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (for about the 10th time) and I read one of my favourite chapters this week; Godric's Hollow. I just think the part with Harry in the graveyard is one of the most moving scenes I've ever read in my life.
- It's September! From now until about January is my favourite time of year, I love Autumn, with the weather getting steadily colder, and Halloween, and then the run up to Christmas. I just love this time of year, and September officially signals the start of it. I've already got a lot of recipes featuring pumpkin pinned to my Pinterest boards!
What are you celebrating this week?
My favorite time of the year as well.
ReplyDeleteI know we have a lot of steampunk festivals and conventions here in the US. Glad you found one there.
A steampunk festival? That sounds fun! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love Fall too, and also winter. Can't stand summer. Ugh! That steampunk fair sounds awesome. You must dress up and go with your friends next year - AND I WANT PICS!!
ReplyDeletePinterest is fun! I've never been to a steampunk festival. I agree with Lexa, if you go next year and dress up, I'd love to see photos!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a steampunk festival either. Sounds fun. I must confess I haven't really ventured onto Pinterest . . . maybe I should take a look.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend, Laura.
JK tells a good tale, doesn't she? I'm steering clear of Pinterest, because I fear it would be too much of a time sink.

ReplyDeleteI don't do Pinterest… I have an account, but I already waste far too much time on social media etc. I'm reading The Deathly Hallows to my younger son at the moment and we just got past that scene you're talking about.
ReplyDeleteI agree with pretty much all of your points.
ReplyDeleteI was late to Pinterest too, but now we have internet access at home, I quite often pin things there. I've got a mix of boards but it's only recently that I've been a little more organised with what I'm pinning.
The Godric's Hollow bit of Deathly Hallows is one of my favourite bits too. Where Harry is wondering whether he might have had brothers and sisters kind of breaks my heart a little bit?
And the Autumness hit me last week when I was walking the dog and noticed the leaves starting to fall off the trees and build up in drifts (not unlike your blog background). This is the time of year when I start thinking about NaNo, which leads into Christmas planning, sorting out music and presents. I love this whole time of year. :-)
I should get a Pinterest account some time. Sounds like fun. I like the fall as well. Good holidays, good weather and school, glorious school! I really need some quiet time to write.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're enjoying your favorite season and time with your friends, along with Harry Potter.
ReplyDeleteI love Pinterest! If I'm not careful, I can be on there for hours. I get a lot of ideas and reference material for my drawings there. I love looking at the interesting faces on there as well as cultural festivals, children's fashion, art, hairstyles, etc.
ReplyDeleteSteampunk is cool. A lot of people dress in those costumes at the comic conventions in the area. A steampunk festival would be something great to see!
My kids are finally old enough to appreciate Harry Potter. I'm reading book 5 for them now.
Fall is my favorite season!
Glad to hear you had such a nice time with your friends! I've managed not to dive to deep into Pininterest yet. There are so many wonderful things there!
ReplyDeleteI've only read through the Harry Potter books twice, and recently been thinking of picking up the first one again. *pottermore fan*
ReplyDeleteI'm on pininterest. But I rarely go there anymore. Have a nice weekend!
YAY for Pinterest! Love it! I just added you over there. :)
