Books read in January

I haven't done one of these posts in so long, but I used to love to share my opinions on the books that I've read.

Demon Glass is the second novel in a series by Rachel Hawkins - I read the first one last year, and I loved it. This novel was just as good; basically anything to do with witches and I'm hooked.

Of course, after reading Demon Glass I had to immediately read the final book in the series, Spell Bound. The series ended really well - there were no loose ends. One of the best things about this series are the characters; they're really well thought out, and I love the way they interact with each other. There were a few issues I have with the novels, but nothing that ruined the books for me. I'm looking forward to reading more of Rachel Hawkins' series.

Next up is Trial By Fire by Josephine Angelini. I've had this on my bookshelf for a long time, and only just got around to reading it. It's got an interesting premise - the main character, Lily, gets transported into another world by the version of her that inhabits that world. The world is incredibly different from Lily's world, one of the differences being that there are witches in this other world, and Lily just happens to be one. It's a solid start to a series, and I love the world building.

So of course after reading Trial By Fire, I went on to the next book in the series, Firewalker. There was more world building in this book, and it ended on a huge cliffhanger! I can't wait to read the next in the series, but I have to wait until September.

  2. Interesting... I have watched a couple witch TV shows and like them but have never dived into witch fiction... maybe I should...

  3. I always try to wait to read series until they're all published because the year-long waits between books is unbearable. Of course, that doesn't work if I read the first book without knowing it's going to be a series...

  4. I haven't heard of a single one of these, but it's awesome to hear not just that you enjoyed them, but that you read so many books in such a short timespan!

  6. Both sound intriguing and I'd never heard of either of them. Although the name Rachel Hawkins sounds familiar.
