IWSG - September

The Insecure Writer's Support Group was created by Alex J. Cavanaugh as a place where writers can talk about their insecurities once a month, and receive encouragement and support from other writers. It's such an amazing group, it even has its own website now, which you can visit here.

So my main insecurity at the minute is the fact that, for the whole of August, I barely wrote anything, and the only blog posts I've done are my Celebrate posts. I do have reasons; I spent 7 days in Greece at the beginning of the month, then ever since I got back to work it's been crazy; 12 hour shifts most days, and working my days off.

Despite this, I'm still disappointed; I had such a good month in July, what with Camp NaNo and everything. I'm not going to let it get me down, though. I will get back on top of my writing and blogging, and hopefully work will get a little less chaotic! There's no point beating myself up about what didn't get done this month. I just need to keep looking forward, and try to write whenever I get the chance!

  1. Most of us have those months where barely any writing happens. You're right that there's no point in beating yourself up about it. All you can do is focus on what you want to accomplish this month.

  3. I didn't do much in August either, or really for the whole summer. I hope September is calmer for you and you are able to get back to your writing and blogging.

  4. Writing is a grand thing to do, but we have many other things that need to be done. enjoy the moments you get to write as and when they arrive, but be happy first. . . . Take care Miss Laura

  5. Not surprising you got behind in writing with your trip, even without work being hectic. Good luck getting back into it.

  6. We all have good and bad months. Usually after NaNo I'm out of steam for a few weeks. It'll come back. :)

  7. Hi Laura,
Maybe my news will cheer you up. You won the $5 Amazon gift card for participating in the WEP last month. That's something positive right? You're a winner! Check the WEP page the winners have been announced!
Just remember everyone has to take time off, for life, for family, but we all get back to it eventually. Just make a new to do list and start over, soon you'll be clicking all the items off your list!

  8. I agree that there's no reason to beat yourself up. I know for me that only leads to me not being able to jump back into things.

  9. Hey Laura. I wasn't going to tell you that you won the Lucky Door prize at WEP, but Yolanda has blabbed the good news. I was waiting for you to come over to WEP and read all about it. Do pay a visit and see all the winners! So you did achieve something over August!

  10. The whole summer was like that for me. Not much done in the way of writing. Your trip to Greece sounds wonderful. I'd love to go there someday. Good luck getting back into gear with your writing!
