Something Wicked Blogfest
The rules are very simple - you have 400 words or less to write about a real villain, one you created in a novel, or write a flash fiction. Your villain doesn't have to be necessarily a murderer or stalker, but any anti-hero in your writing will work just fine!
I was going to write a scene involving the villain from my NaNo novel from last year, but I've been working a lot lately so I haven't had time to edit it yet. Instead, I've decided to talk about one of my absolute favourite villains from one of my favourite TV shows: Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Of course, I'm talking about Angel. I think I love him more as a villain than I love him as a good guy. There's a reason season 2 is my favourite. I just think that was an amazing idea from Joss; turn someone who Buffy loves and trusts completely into someone so evil, someone who will hurt her friends and family just to get to her.
It's a great conflict for a hero; how do you kill someone you love, even if they're doing terrible things?
So there you go; my take on a great villain. An honourable mention goes to Loki of the Thor/Avengers franchise, who I think is a great villain because of the reasons behind his villainy. He just wants to belong.
Sorry for the short, rushed entry to this blogfest, hope you enjoyed it all the same!
Hard to kill the ones you love.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed that season too. That would be a terrible thing for anyone to face. That's one reason why I enjoy zombies as well. The idea of seeing your loved ones turned to something that can only hurt you is terrifying!
ReplyDeleteOn the Eve of Halloween my villain is . . . . . . . . HARRY POTTER. . .

Loki is a great one, he's my fave character from the Thor movie franchise. Killing someone you love would be tough. But so is watching them make others suffer. Angel as a villain is a good choice Laura.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice. I loved evil Angel too, but not quite as much as Spike!
ReplyDeleteAngel! I LOVED him evil. Season Two is my favorite season of Buffy as well, by a landslide. To me the entire Angelus arc culminating in Buffy having to kill Angel was one of the best written storylines ever. The ending still kills me. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! :) That's a very difficult choice. Joss made a great decision in turning someone she loved into evil. It makes it very hard to a hero to decide between emotions and what is right. Thanks for participating in our blogfest! :)
ReplyDeleteHow great for you to be back to writing. In know it must feel wonderful. Here's to doing tons of it.
