What's Up Wednesday
What’s Up Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Erin L Funk and Jaime Morrow, and the idea is to let other bloggers know where you are with any writing and reading goals you may have.
I'm still reading through the Harry Potter series. I've slowed down a lot since I've got back from Spain, but that's to be expected; I haven't got much time for reading now that I'm back home. I'm currently reading Goblet of Fire, which I'm enjoying a lot. It's amazing that I've read through the series so many times, and yet the story is still capable of stirring my emotions. I still laugh at the funny parts, cry at the sad parts and smile at the happy parts. Hopefully I'll get find time to finish it within the next week.
2. What I'm writing
I'm still working through the edits and revisions of my dissertation stories, and they're going really well. I got quite a lot of work done while I was sick, because I had time off work so I used my spare time to work on my edits. I've done the major edits on three out of the seven stories, so I'm right on schedule. This time next week I should have finished the major edits on all of the stories, and then I can move on to the minor edits.
3. What else I've been up to
Not much, what with being ill for the last week. I lost 25 hours at work this week, so I'm really not looking forward to getting paid, since I already lost a lot of overtime hours while I was on holiday in Spain. Oh well, I'll just have to fit a lot of overtime in for the next pay day! As well as getting a lot of work done on my dissertation this week, I also spent a lot of time lazing around and playing The Sims 3 - it certainly took my mind off being ill! It was nice to have a rest, but I'm all better now, and ready to get back into my normal routine.
4. What inspires me right now
I'm inspired by how well I'm doing with my edits right now. I seem to be getting through them quickly and easily, and I'm coming up with solutions for all of the major problems I had with my stories, which is great.
Glad you're on track with your dissertation. Don't sweat the paycheck. It's only money, right?
ReplyDeleteI love The Sims 3!! Sometimes I make my Sim spend hours writing a book when I should be spending hours writing a book and it's all meta like that! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the edits and dissertation but it sounds like you are in the home stretch!
Good luck with the dissertation. Sending good vibes.
ReplyDeleteGlad your dissertation edits are going well! That sounds like a huge undertaking, so all the best this week. I need to do a Harry Potter reread soon, maybe this fall :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with finishing your dissertation! That's a mighty big accomplishment to be proud of.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up with your dissertation! And rereading Harry Potter, how fun! I can't wait to read the series with my kids.
ReplyDeleteYay for getting through your edits quickly and easily, I hope that continues. Sorry you lost so much work/money, but glad you are feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteAh, Harry Potter. I can't read a book a second time that I've read within the last twenty years. At least, not unless I'm editing it or analyzing it for study purposes. Those stories stick with me and I just get frustrated and bored. (Sad, right?) Still, that means all those elements are fresh in my mind, even years after reading them.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your edits!
I'm sorry to hear you were sick, but it sounds like you are feeling better now, so that's good. Good luck picking up the rest of your edits, it sounds like you are well on your way.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear that you're feeling better. Being sick is crummy, but being sick in the summer is just that much worse. But great job on getting so many edits done! You're making me want to reread Harry Potter now. I really do need to do that sometime. :-)
ReplyDeleteWell done Miss Laura :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are getting your edits done, that sounds great ;) Sorry you were poorly
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're feeling well enough to get your edits done AND that you are pleased with them. I've been sick and don't like the last edits I made. Well, tomorrow is another day.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your edits are going well. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHow great will you feel when that dissertation is all done? Let me know- I'll celebrate with you.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're feeling better! Being sick is never fun. Sounds like your dissertation is doing great - yay for that :)
ReplyDeleteYour inspiration inspires me. I'm about to have to go through edits and I'm dreading it like mad. Quick and easy never seems to happen with edits, so well done!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the edits going well!
