Celebrate the Small Things

Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly bloghop hosted by Lexa Cain. The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week, no matter how small.

I haven't posted for a while, it's been a busy few weeks!


Here's what I'm celebrating this week:
- I had a fantastic time in Rhodes, Greece with my mum; we got back last week, and now it feels like we never went away! It was very strange being somewhere so sunny in October!

- I posted for the Halloween edition for Write Edit Publish on Wednesday, and got some great feedback for my spooky story. Click here if you want to read it! The other pieces were brilliant too, as usual!

- It's my favourite time of year; the nights are closing in, there's (sometimes) a cold bite to the air, and my favourite holidays are approaching!

    Hi Laura - it's not bad here so far either ... but I think I'd rather be in Greece! So glad you had a happy time ... It was a very good story and I hope a lot of people go over to read your WEP entry ... it was cruelly realistic ... cheers Hilary

    I'm glad you had a great time in Rhodes! I've been to Greece, but not there. It's hot and sunny where I am in California, but Rhodes is probably more interesting. It's going to be 65-70 degrees C (95-100F) in a couple of days here. I'm over it. Waiting for the real Autumn...

So I actually wrote this piece for April's WEP, but I was ill so didn't get to post it in the end. I'm quite glad, as it suits this month's theme so much more. IWSG - April 2018

For anyone who doesn't know, the Insecure Writer's Support Group is a group of writer's who post once a month about their insecurities, and then visit each other to offer help and support. April 4th question - When your writing life is a bit cloudy or filled with rain, what do you do to dig down and keep on writing? As I write this post, it's pouring with rain outside - how apt!  Whenever the negative thoughts begin to creep in, I try to remind myself of the reason I began to write in the first place - because I love it. I love stories, whether I'm reading them, playing them, listening to them or writing them.  If ever I have doubts about a story I'm writing, I remind myself of the first time that idea appeared in my mind; the excitement, the rush of feelings, thoughts and ideas as the story began to take shape in my head. My goals for June!

I've decided that as part of my blogging schedule, I'll be writing a post at the beginning of each month about the goals I want to accomplish by the end of it. I'm hoping this will make me more motivated! So, here are my goals: Taken from here 1. Finish reading Game of Thrones - I've been reading it since January, and I really don't like taking to long to read one book, especially when there are so many unread ones waiting on my bookshelf! 2. Finish decorating my bedroom - it's very nearly done, we just need to finish wallpapering and put the furniture back, and then the hard part: putting my new bed up! It shouldn't take too long to get this done, since we're doing the wallpapering tomorrow and the bed's coming on Wednesday. Taken from here 3.
