IWSG - November
Today's question is: What is your favorite aspect of being a writer?
This is a difficult question, there are so many things I love about being a writer! One of the best things is when you read something that you've written, and you can't quite believe that you wrote it. That's when it all becomes worth it; all the time and effort that you put into it.
Another great thing is when you get positive feedback from people who have read your writing; it's all very well and good when you like your own writing, but when other people like it, there's no other feeling like it in the world.
I'm feeling pretty good about my writing at the moment; I got two Halloween stories written and up on my blog in the last couple of weeks, and I got great feedback on both. I didn't manage to get my story written for the IWSG anthology, which I'm really disappointed about, but I just didn't have the time. I'm still going to write the story though; it's a prequel to the novel I've been working on, a kind of backstory for the main villain.
All the writing that I've done this month has definitely helped me dive back into regular writing; I've been getting a lot more ideas for stories. The other day I woke up in the middle of the night and had to jot down a dream I had, because it gave me a great idea for a story. I'm looking forward to getting started on all these ideas.
What do you love about being a writer?
Write the story anyway. And there's always next year's contest.
ReplyDeleteI had to listen to parts of my audio books while they were in creation and I certainly wondered who wrote them!
You know you're back to writing when those dreams start waking you up! Congrats on those sleepless nights.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all of your writing! I love the creative part of writing.
ReplyDeleteYay for diving back into creativity! All it takes is a little priming, eh--and you're off!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all you've accomplished this past month. Maybe next year for the IWSG anthology.
ReplyDeleteI love those middle of the night ideas. It's great that you're back to writing.
ReplyDeleteI miss this excitement and exuberance of writing. One day it will come back. I hope you take advantage of it and write like crazy when you can. Good luck!
