Celebrate the Small Things

Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly bloghop now hosted by Lexa Cain. The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week, no matter how small.


This week I'm celebrating: 

- I had a fantastic time in Greece! I'll hopefully put a post up next week with pictures from the holiday. 

- The airport lost my luggage on my return flight in the early hours of Sunday morning, so I've had to go all week without all the stuff in my suitcase! Luckily I'm getting it back today, I was beginning to worry that I'd have to replace everything! I'm looking forward to getting my stuff back, not so much all the washing that will come with it. 

- While I miss Greece, it's nice to be home. I missed my cat, Misty, while I was away, and she was certainly happy to see me! Obviously I was happy to see my boyfriend, Jamie, too!

    Glad you had a good holiday, look forward to hearing about it soon. Sorry they lost your luggage, it's always a worry watching the carousal go round and your bag not being there! Hope it is returned safe and sound today.

    At least they didn't lose your luggage on the way to Greece. I once lost my luggage on the way to a conference, so the airline gave me money to buy new clothes. That actually was fun.

    Welcome back from Greece! Can't wait to see your pics and hear more about it. I'm sure your cat missed you greatly, and yay to getting luggage back. That's always a huge pain.

    I hate it when airlines lose my luggage! I'm glad you're getting yours back soon. I hope your boyfriend doesn't read your blog and find out you mentioned missing your cat before him! LOL Have a good weekend!

The Insecure Writer's Support Group was created by Alex J. Cavanaugh as a place where writers can talk about their insecurities once a month, and receive encouragement and support from other writers. It's such an amazing group, it even has its own website now, which you can visit here . This week I'm a co-host! There were three short stories I wanted to get written, and I also wanted to get back to my NaNo edits, but none of that happened. A is for Arachne and Arlee!

Before I get to my Greek Mythology part of this post, at the request of Alex J. Cavanaugh  (great idea by the way, Alex!), I'd first like to thank Arlee Bird for coming up with the challenge in the first place. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be taking part in this amazing experience every year. Thanks, Arlee! This is one of my favourite tales from Greek mythology, so naturally I chose it for my first letter. Arachne was the daughter of a shepherd, and was famous for the beautiful tapestries she weaved. Nymphs would travel from all over to see her work, and to watch her weave. One day, a nymph asked her if her talent was a gift from the goddess Athena. Arachne protested, saying her skill was all her own, and that her weaving was better than Athena's. Athena heard of this, and challenged the girl to a weaving contest.
