What's Up Wednesday

What’s Up Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Erin L Funk and Jaime Morrow, and the idea is to let other bloggers know where you are with any writing and reading goals you may have.

1. What I'm reading

I just finished reading Cassastar by Alex J. Cavanaugh, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, purely because it's a genre that I don't usually read. It was excellent - it pulled me in and kept me reading until the end. Any book that manages to make me cry has done it's job well, as it means I cared about the characters.
I'm still reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, but I haven't chosen another kindle book yet. There's so many on there waiting for me to read that I haven't got a clue which one to start with! I'll focus on Harry Potter for now, and choose my kindle book later.

2. What I'm writing

I'm mostly working on my Halloween stories at the moment, which are going quite well. I really need to get started on my NaNo prep, but I just haven't found the time.

3. What else I've been up to

I've mostly just been working - I'm trying to get some extra hours in, so I'm extending my shifts a little every day. This is probably the reason why I haven't started my NaNo prep!

4. What inspires me right now

I've still got plenty of ideas and motivation, so that's very inspiring. I'm also very inspired by the time of year - I love autumn and winter, and I love Halloween, so the atmosphere is extremely inspiring. I just need a day where I can sit down and write - my only problem is a lack of time.

  1. Oh Halloween stories sounds like something that'd be very cool, I think I read another few attempts at the horror genre from you around this time last year so I'm looking forward to seeing if this years lot are equally as good!

    1. Same here--intrigued by Halloween stories, though I don't think I'd personally be very good at writing them.

  2. Good luck finding the time to do your NaNo prep. Mine tends to consist of "Should I do NaNo this year? Yes! What shall I write? Eh, I'll figure that out when I get there" ^^;

    Have an awesome week :D

  4. I've been thinking about reading CassaStar-it's not my typical genre either. Glad to know you connected to it so much. best of luck with NaNo prep. Fall is my favorite season, as well. Breath in the fresh air *awww*

  5. I've gotta get on NaNo prep too but I've been involved in revisions. Hopefully I'll get those done in time to prep before November hits.
    Good luck with your prep!

  6. This time of year is definitely inspiring. It really makes you want to get stuff done, be productive. (At least that's how I feel.) I know what you mean about being too busy to get certain writing things done. I'm totally in the same boat right now. Nice to hear that your Halloween stories are coming along nicely though. :-) Right now I'm craving a day to just sit down and read (and maybe write). Here's hoping we both find the time soon!

  7. Would you like to borrow my time stopper? Um, never mind. It broke. BUT, I just perfected a time reversal spell. No good?

  10. Writing Halloween stories sounds like so much fun! I love this time of year too. There's a certain creativity around Halloween that's inspiring, you know, the costumes, the decorations. Hope you find some time for your NaNo prep! :)

  12. I'm loving halloween stuff right now, so your halloween stories intrigue me. :) I wanted to do Nano this year but just haven't got the time. Although I got to play word wars with some friends earlier and that was a nice reminder of my Nano days. This will be my second year not doing it :( I hope it goes really well for you, and try not to get to worn out doing all those extra shifts :)

  13. Halloween stories! How fun. I'm in the midst of prepping for NaNoWriMo, but I've also participated in years when I just didn't have time to do any prep. Either way, it's just a fun time to write. Have a great week!
