Celebrate the Small Things and Goals for October

It's time to celebrate once again, with this weekly bloghop hosted by Viklit over at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author. The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week.

This week I'm celebrating:

- Feeling refreshed after my break from work and writing. I went back to work yesterday, and I'm getting back into my writing this afternoon by beginning to plan my Halloween stories - that should be fun!

- The beginning of my favourite seasons, autumn and winter, and my favourite holidays. I'm enjoying going for walks at the minute, either at the park near my house or the woods near my boyfriend's house. It's lovely walking through the trees with their brilliantly coloured leaves, relishing the cool air. Lovely :)

- All the motivation and inspiration I'm feeling right now. I feel like I can do anything as long as I try hard enough; I hope this feeling lasts!

Now for my monthly goals. Last month my goals were:

- Hand in my dissertation - Done.

- Read 4 books - I almost achieved this goal - I read three books, nearly a fourth but not quite. I'm now up to 37 books out of the 50 I need to read to achieve my Goodreads goal, so that's pretty good.

- Get started on NaNoWriMo prep - I haven't started this yet - what with going on holiday last week, I didn't really get the chance!

Here are my goals for this month:

- Read 4 books - I should have some time for reading this month, so hopefully I'll achieve this.

- NaNoWriMo prep - I should be starting this next week; I'm spending the weekend working on my Halloween stories.

- Finish my Halloween short stories - I'm really looking forward to working on these, so I'm sure I'll have no problem getting them done.

  1. Those goals sound achievable.
Fall and winter are my favorite seasons. I don't like hot weather.

  2. Good luck with the halloween storires. Walks this time of year can be very inspirational.

  3. I must have a good think about an interesting Halloween tale of horror too.

  4. I agree with the seasonal appreciation and Alex's dislike of heat. :) Good for you on your addictive optimism. I love Halloween. Spooky stories abound! :D

  5. Good job, Laura! You finished so many things that were on your list. You're enjoying the weather, too. Have a great weekend.

  6. Congrats on that dissertation! That's huge.

  7. Oh, I love Halloween stories! Sounds like a fun way to get back into writing. I also hate heat so this is my favorite time of year too. Not just because of the cool weather, but also because I start looking forward to the holidays. :)

Congrats again on handing in that dissertation!

  8. I love running and walking through the leaves this time of year. Good job meeting your goals and good luck with the next ones.

  9. Those sound like attainable goals. You will do it!
Glad you are feeling refreshed and getting started on writing during your favorite seasons ;)

  10. Have been slow on my Nano prep but it is a story I've been trying to get off the ground for a while. Enjoy your weekend.

  11. I'd be quite shocked if you didn't read four books in one month Laura, it's so like you to always read, well done with September's goals too!

  12. May that feeling last indeed! Good luck with NaNo. Wish I could join in, but it's too much for me. :) Writer’s Mark

  13. Awesome celebrations! I enjoy Autumn, too! :)

  14. Sounds like you've had a good week! And your goals sound achievable. I wish I could NaNo this year, but I have a book that's supposed to be coming out toward the end of November or early December, so I think I'll be way too busy. Maybe I'll do my own NaNo in March or something....

  15. Ooo...Halloween stories! Hopefully, you'll share a little excerpt ;)
Autumn and Winter are my favorite two seasons too. A wonderful time of year!

  16. Hurrah to feeling refreshed and motivated!

  17. I love time off from work! It always makes me feel like a new person.. I like the idea of setting such realistic goals, really inspirational :)
