What's Up Wednesday

If you're looking for my IWSG post, you can find it here.

What’s Up Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Erin L Funk and Jaime Morrow, and the idea is to let other bloggers know where you are with any writing and reading goals you may have.

1. What I'm reading

I got a lot of reading done while I was away last week. I finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which was amazing, as usual. One of the saddest endings of all the books, for obvious reasons. I also read The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater, which I'd been looking forward to ever since reading The Raven Boys earlier on in the year. It was just as good as I expected it to be, and I can't wait for the next one!
I also read The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I watched the film the other week, and I loved it so I wanted to read the book, which was even better.

I'm currently reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and Cassastar by our very own Alex J. Cavanaugh. I didn't really know what to expect since I've never really read that genre, but I'm enjoying it so far.

2. What I'm writing

Still not doing much writing at the minute, but that's going to change very soon! I have a lot to do; I've signed up for three different Halloween bloghops, so I need to get writing the stories for them, and I also need to get started on my planning for NaNoWriMo. I'm really looking forward to getting started, and I've got a ton of ideas!

3. What else I've been up to

I've not really done much since getting back from holiday on Friday - mostly I've spent a lot of time blogging and playing The Sims 3. Yesterday I spent some time with my mum, baking a lime and coconut cake and some pretty awesome dinosaur shaped shortbread for my boyfriend's birthday on Thursday.

4. What inspires me right now

I'm inspired by all of the things I've got going on, from blog hops to NaNoWriMo prep, and can't wait to immerse myself again in the world of writing. I've missed it!

  1. You've read some great stuff this week. I'm reading THE DREAM THIEVES right now and enjoying it. Though, I kind of wish I had more time to sit down and just gobble it up. I've been so busy, it's hard to find time to finish it. I'm on GOBLET OF FIRE right now too, so I'm a bit behind you in the series. I love them just as much as all the other times I read them! I had thought I might take part in NaNo again, but I don't think it will be possible this year. Good luck with all of your planning beforehand! Have a great week, Laura. :-)

  2. I loved all the books you mentioned. I want to fast forward to next October so I can read the next Raven Boys book.

Best of luck with your NaNo prep. It's only October 2nd and I'm already super far behind with mine.

  9. I used to love sims 2 but haven't really been able to get into sims 3. You sound like you'll be really busy soon, so I would enjoy this quieter time while you can :)

  10. Wasn't THE DREAM THIEVES awesome? It was different from the first book in a lot of ways, but I loved it just as much. I can't believe we have to wait a whole long year for book three now.

Mmm, I love anything with lime and coconut, and I'm a shortbread addict. I mostly make shortbread at Christmas because it's a family tradition, but I could eat it any time of the year.

Good luck with all your ideas for NaNoWriMo and the Halloween blog hops!

  15. Hee hee hee - dinosaur-shaped shortbreads! I love that. :) I still haven't read THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, but it is on my must-read list. I, too, am super-excited about NaNoWriMo. :) I love hearing everyone getting pumped for it! Have a great week.
