Celebrate the Small Things
Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly bloghop hosted by Viklit over at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author. The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week.
This week I'm celebrating:
- Porridge. I've never appreciated it so much before. I usually get the pots that you only have to put hot water in, since they're so convenient for taking to work, but I made home-made porridge on Tuesday and it was delicious. It's just what I need with all this wintry weather - it warms me right up.
- My new favourite drink, a nutella, banana and oat smoothie from this recipe. I've never had a blender before, but Joe (my mum's boyfriend, who we moved in with last December) has one, so I've been having some fun with it. This recipe is by far my favourite, for now at least.
- I spent some time with my sister on Wednesday, making flapjacks and watching Shrek 2. I love spending time with her, but I don't get to much since I moved.
- New work hours! Remember my last post, where I said that I was getting really tired because of my 5.00am shifts? Well it turns out they need someone to start later and work later a couple of days a week, and that someone is me! I start at 9.00am on Monday and I'm ridiculously excited about it. That's a whole four hours after my usual starting time. It's only a couple of days a week, but three 5.00am starts a week is far better than five.
Glad you got a later shift!
ReplyDeleteYour first experience with a blender? That's wild. I guess we've just always had one.
So glad your work schedule got a little easier! Delicious food is always something to celebrate, especially when you make it yourself :)

Like the sound of that smoothie! Yay for a later lie in!
ReplyDeleteI have a blender, but I don't think I've actually ever used it.
ReplyDeleteMy shifts usually start at 9am. I love the earlier ones, though, because when I get out of work, the sun is still out and I have time to do other things.
Yay for your shift change! I think I'd be a bot at 5 am. Granted, it's been a long time since I HAD to be anywhere at that hour. If I pull an all nighter its not so bad...
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting smoothie. I got a blender for Christmas years ago, and I've never used it... Glad you got a change of shift. Having to be at work at 5am is inhumane. Leaving work at 5am is inhumane too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have better hours now. And yummy food...I want that smoothie now lol
ReplyDeleteGlad you have better work hours now. Those 5 am shifts have to be rough! Enjoy your weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteHope the new shift frees up more time for you. I like oatmeal & fruit in the morning.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on having better work hours. My father leaves for work in the early hours as well. Having fun with your sister is definitely something to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got a later start time!!
ReplyDeleteOh yum, I'm going to have to try that Nutella smoothie. I'm now a member of MJ's AZTech Team and am a new follower of you blog! Glad to meet you.
ReplyDeleteSorry but that drink sounds terrible, I think its the banana I hate banana and now you have made me write it twice miss Laura . . . . . . .DAMN
ReplyDeleteAnd your minion pic is still showing as a broken link (I have said . . . . me thinks you are not reading your comments . . . .tut tut naughty)
Shrek 2- awesome!
ReplyDeleteI am Puss.... in Boots.
LOL. <3
Congrats on your week.
I probably should know but is porridge like oatmeal? I think I used to know. I just started cooking oatmeal instead of pouring water in it and sticking it in the microwave. It just tastes so much better and I sprinkle it with cinnamon. Post the recipe for the smoothie. I like bananas.
ReplyDeleteI'm a MJ tech too.
Great news about your new shifts, it's no fun starting work at 5am. And the smoothie recipe looks intriguing, may have to check that one out.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your weekend :-)
