Let's be honest, every girl has at one point in her life dreamed of her Knight in Shining Armour coming and whisking her away to live happily ever after.
I know Knights don't pop up in many fairy tales, but I wanted to include them because they are similar to prince charming. (And because I didn't have anything else for K!) A common theme in fairy tales is the prince who saves the 'damsel in distress' from a horrible life, much like a Knight in shining armour. Fairy tales that contain knights in shining armour include
Snow White,
Rapunzel, Cinderella and
The Little Mermaid.
I like the old cliché, where there's a damsel in distress locked in a tower, and no-one can get to her because of the dragon that guards the tower. Then along comes the Knight in shining armour, to slay the dragon and save the day! I particularly liked when this cliché was used in an unconventional way in
Shrek!
And how can I mention Knights without mentioning
A Knights Tale? I know it's not a fairy tale, but it's still a great movie that deserves a mention!
Ok, that's my slightly sub-standard post for today, but hopefully you enjoyed it all the same!
Aren't we guys awesome!!! ;) LOL NOT!!! haha

Thanks! I'm following you, so I'm sure I will :)
DeleteStill waiting for mine.:)
ReplyDeleteLol, me too!
DeleteShrek is my favourite "fairy tale" if you can call it that, because it turns the Knight in shining armour thing on its head, and even though he doesn't look how she imagined, he is still right!
That's one of the reasons why I love Shrek too! Goes with the whole 'Don't judge a book by its cover' saying :)
DeleteI adore A Knight's Tale so you get extra points for mentioning it lol!
ReplyDeleteYay! I love it :)
DeleteOh, I LOVED A Knights Tale. But then, who doesn't love Knight in shining armor?
ReplyDeleteExactly! Had to do a post about it :)
DeleteKnights in shining armor (and without armor) are a must! They're every girls' dream :)
ReplyDeleteWho wouldn't want to get swept away by one? :)
DeleteCan't say I have ever seen A Knight's Tale.
ReplyDeleteIt's very good, it's based on Chaucer's version :)
DeleteI like this post, it's cute! I think sequels to "Happily Ever After" should be written because little girls tend to think that marriage is perfection. LOL...

It is kind of misleading saying 'happily ever after', because that never happens!
DeleteI haven't watched a Knights Tale - Heath Ledger?? Or is it Kevin Costner??
ReplyDeleteHeath Ledger, it's very good :)
DeleteI'll take my knight with or without a horse, please! ^.^
ReplyDelete-Barb the French Bean
Me too, as long as I get one! :)

ReplyDelete--and I loved this post and the others that I missed during my busy days!
DeleteHaha! That is exciting, thanks! I'm going to be watching these for hours! :D
DeleteGreat post. I think my favourite knights in stories are King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! They're pretty much the only knights I could think of, but I really don't know that much about them! (I need to brush up on my King Arthur stories!) :)
DeleteWhere's our knight? :(
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs a knight in shining armour! :)
DeleteHi, Loopy Loo! Wonder if anyone has ever considered how hot a knight gets in one of those tin cans they have to ride around in? Wouldn't that be a fun idea for a story? Haven't seen a Knight's Tale with Heath Ledger. I enjoyed your post. Haven't seen Here yet either. Just don't go to the movies much any more. What I see is on TV or Netflix. :)
ReplyDeleteBest regards to you. Ruby
Goodness, it would be so hot! I never thought of that! It's a good movie, you should watch it :) Thanks for visiting! :)
