What's Up Wednesday

What’s Up Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Erin L Funk and Jaime Morrow, and the idea is to let other bloggers know where you are with any writing and reading goals you may have.

1. What I'm reading

I started reading An Unstill Life by Kate Larkindale on Monday night, and finished it on Tuesday morning. I won it in a giveaway a few weeks ago, and I'm so glad I did. I stayed up until gone midnight on Monday night reading it - I haven't done that with a book in a long while. I would definitely recommend it.
Next I'll be reading CassaFire by Alex J. Cavanaugh.

2. What I'm writing

Still not much, but I did manage to finish the first read-through of my NaNo draft on Monday. I've got pages of notes for it, and I'm looking forward to getting to work on revisions. I'll be doing a revised outline for it today, then I can get started.

3. What else I've been up to

I went to my boyfriend's last night, and we had our Valentine's Day part one. This mostly involved eating lots of sweets and biscuits, while watching anime - he really knows the key to my heart! I live an hour away from him now, and we're both working over Valentine's Day so we thought we'd split ours up - part one last night, and part two next Tuesday.

4. What inspires me right now

There's no greater motivator than actually feeling like you're getting stuff done. I feel like I'm finally starting to catch up with everything, and it's inspiring me to work even harder.

  1. Sounds fun! :) My boyfriend and I are long-distance, too, so he's driving down to mine and we're going away to Wales for a few days. It's true - feeling like you're getting stuff done is a great motivator!

  2. Hi, Laura,

Good idea to spend the quality time you need... Love doesn't have to always be measured on one day of the year....

Glad to hear you're feeling inspired again!

  3. It is a great feeling to check things off the proverbial to-do list, isn't it? I agree--nothing like it.

Have a good Valentine's Day/week! Sounds like it should be a fun time. :)

  4. Which anime did you watch? (Our household watches a lot of it.) That's a good idea to take notes and do a revised outline before digging into a Nano revision. I should take that advice... :)

  5. Awww... that sucks that you both have to work on Valentine's Day, but cool that you made up for it by having TWO Valentine's Days! My wife and I celebrated our first Valentine's Day long distance. She was in the US, I was in the UK. I don't remember what we did, but I daresay there was a card exchange (via mail), and perhaps even a phone call. This was back in the pre-internet days. Can you imagine?!

All the best with revisions, Laura. You're right that getting stuff done can be an excellent motivator to get more stuff done. I hope that works out for you this week. :)

  7. So great that you feel like you're getting caught up. That is the best feeling ever! And I think it's fantastic that you've gotten through your NaNo read-through and now have a revisions plan of attack. That's pretty big! I hope your revisions go well from here on in. Have a wonderful week, Laura!

  8. I'm glad to hear you have lots of notes for your NaNo project. I always feel so obsessive about the amount of notes I have, but it's worth it in the long run. Part one of your Valentine's Day date sounds fun! Hope you enjoy part two as well! Have a great week!

  9. Yay for time with the BF, it's awesome you guys are celebrating V-Day early b/c of schedules. I love when a book captures me so much I have to stay up late to finish it, that feeling is amazing. Good luck diving into revisions!

  12. Did the same thing Monday night with Static by L.A. Swift. If you can still get a copy on Netgalley I highly recommend it. Aw, Valentine togetherness.
