Celebrate the Small Things

Image
Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly bloghop now hosted by Lexa Cain . The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week, no matter how small. This week I'm celebrating: - We found out on Tuesday that we definitely got the house we applied for! We get the keys next Tuesday, and then move in next weekend. The only downside is that it's cost a lot of money, but we'll just have to be careful over the next couple of months - I'm looking forward to moving.  - I made a lemon glazed ginger cake on Sunday - it was delicious! Not bad for a first attempt at making one.

Books read in January

I haven't done one of these posts in so long, but I used to love to share my opinions on the books that I've read. Demon Glass is the second novel in a series by Rachel Hawkins - I read the first one last year, and I loved it. This novel was just as good; basically anything to do with witches and I'm hooked. Of course, after reading Demon Glass I had to immediately read the final book in the series, Spell Bound . The series ended really well - there were no loose ends. One of the best things about this series are the characters; they're really well thought out, and I love the way they interact with each other. There were a few issues I have with the novels, but nothing that ruined the books for me. I'm looking forward to reading more of Rachel Hawkins' series. Next up is Trial By Fire by Josephine Angelini. I've had this on my bookshelf for a long time, and only just got around to reading it. It's got an interesting premise - the main ch

This week I'm celebrating:  - We found a house! I mentioned in Monday's post that Jamie and I are being evicted from the house we currently rent. Luckily we found a house on Wednesday, just around the corner. We're just waiting for the references to go through, then hopefully can start planning when to move in.  - My car passed its MOT on Wednesday, thank goodness!  - We booked a holiday to Greece today! My mum, her partner, my sister and I are going to Greece in July - I can't wait! We went to the same place last year, and we loved it.

IWSG - February

The Insecure Writer's Support Group was created by Alex J. Cavanaugh as a place where writers can talk about their insecurities once a month, and receive encouragement and support from other writers. It's such an amazing group, it even has its own website now, which you can visit here . Thanks to my new found motivation earlier in January, I've been blogging more regularly than I have for months. I've been putting up at least one post a week, and visiting other bloggers occasionally. I still feel as motivated as I did then, which is a good sign.  However, I haven't done any writing at all. I'm not too concerned about this at the moment, though; it would do no good to try to jump back into everything at once. Slower is better, in this case. I'm planning on participating in this month's WEP  Valentine challenge. I still have no idea what to write, but I'm looking forward to coming up with something.   I'm also still not happy with t

Goals for February

Part of my new motivation for blogging means that I'll be doing monthly goal posts again. Here's hoping I stick to it this time!  Here are my goals for February: - House hunt - unfortunately on Saturday we found out that we're being evicted; we have to find somewhere new and move out by the 2nd of April. I never wanted to stay in this house long term, but I'm still shocked and a little upset that we have to move out so soon. We're going to try to find somewhere cheaper to rent so that we can start saving to buy our own house.  - Read 4 books - I'm on track with my goodreads challenge to read 50 books this year, and I want it to stay that way. 4 books a month seems like a good way to complete the challenge.  - Participate in WEP - There's a Valentine's challenge on the 17th February, and I'd love to take part. I missed the December one, so I don't want to miss another!  That's it for February's goals; I'm starting o
