I've finished Camp NaNo, yay! Here are my final stats: Average Words Per Day 1,613 Your Average Per Day 1,668 Words Written Today 3,182 Target Word Count 50,000 Total Words Written 50,077 Words Remaining 0 Current Day 30 Days Remaining 2 At This Rate You Will Finish On August 30, 2012 Words Per Day To Finish On Time 0 I'm very proud of myself for actually being able to make it to the end, as I didn't think I would! I thought I'd get about halfway (if that) and then give up, but I stuck with it and now I have 50000 words of a story written out! It's a very rough draft at the moment, but I'm sure I can make it better with a bit (or a lot) or editing! Congratulations to everyone else that has hit 50000 as well, and thanks to everyone for your kind words of encouragement while I participated in Camp NaNo :)

Last week of Camp NaNo!

I still haven't finished the book I've been reading, so I thought I'd do another Camp NaNo update, since this will be the last one! I should have it finished by Friday, which is nice; I'm looking forward to not having to worry about doing 1600 words of writing every day! Here are my stats: Average Words Per Day 1,613 Your Average Per Day 1,613 Words Written Today 1,485 Target Word Count 50,000 Total Words Written 43,563 Words Remaining 6,437 Current Day 27 Days Remaining 5 At This Rate You Will Finish On August 30, 2012 Words Per Day To Finish On Time 1,288 6000 words to go, I've enjoyed this experience a lot but I'll be glad when it's over! And then I promise I'll carry on with my schedule, and post better things! I've been neglecting my blog slightly during Camp NaNo, but it should be back to normal next week. :)

Piano Inspiration!

Image
Today I thought I'd do a post about what inspires me to learn to play the piano. I love piano music, I just think it sounds so beautiful, so I thought I'd share a few of my favourites with you. They're mostly music from TV programmes and anime, but I like them! First, this is the song that I'm learning at the minute, and I think it's the saddest music I've ever heard. It's from the anime Naruto: This next one is from Fullmetal Alchemist: Here's one from Final Fantasy X: And here's a last one from Buffy the Vampire Slayer: There you go, these pieces of music are my inspiration for wanting to learn the piano. Hopefully one day I'll be able to play them all myself!

Camp NaNo Progress!

Image
So I've been trying to write this post all day, but I've been really struggling! Usually I would review books on a Monday, but I haven't finished the one I started last week and I didn't want to review an old one as it wouldn't be fresh in my mind. Therefore, I decided that I would write a post about my Camp NaNo Progress so far, since I haven't really said how I've been doing.  I'm now more than half way through Camp NaNo, and I'm still going strong. I'm glad that it will be over soon, though - it will be nice not having to write every single day! I can't wait until I can come home from work and relax instead of worrying about writing.  That said, I am enjoying the challenge, and I'm proud of myself for keeping going for this long. It's certainly looking like I'm going to complete the challenge successfully, so it's something that I can be proud of.  Here are my stats: Your Average Per Day:  1,536 Words Writt

What if? Fairytale Madness Blogfest!

Image
I’ve finally finished my piece for the What If?  Fairytale Madness Blogfest ! Just in time too, today's the last day! I chose the category Best Tragedy, and got my inspiration from Shakespeare, whose tragedies I love! Here’s my story: Cinderella’s Revenge: She sat in the darkened room, gazing at the bloody knife in her hands. She had finally done it; after years of ignorance and abuse, she had got her revenge on the people who had made her life hell. Their bodies were laid on the floor at her feet, still in the beautiful dresses that they didn’t deserve to wear. Their faces were even uglier in death. The hate and resentment had been building up for years, ever since her father married that vile woman, who had never been able to treat her as a daughter. She finally snapped after the ball, when her stepsisters got back and immediately began taunting her. “ He’d never choose you…” “You’re too ugly to be a Queen…” “Who would marry a poor servant like you?” It

Wither by Lauren Destefano!

I finished yet another book this week, so I'll be reviewing that today. I'm pretty impressed that I've managed to read a book a week for the last few weeks, it's definitely making the pile of books I haven't read go down! Hopefully I can keep it up, so I can re-read a few of the favourites on my bookshelf! Today I'm reviewing Wither by Lauren Destefano, which I'm giving 3.5 out of 5 stars. Here's the summary from Goodreads : By age sixteen, Rhine Ellery has four years left to live. She can thank modern science for this genetic time bomb. A botched effort to create a perfect race has left all males with a lifespan of 25 years, and females with a lifespan of 20 years. Geneticists are seeking a miracle antidote to restore the human race, desperate orphans crowd the population, crime and poverty have skyrocketed, and young girls are being kidnapped and sold as polygamous brides to bear more children.  When Rhine is kidnapped and sold as a bride, sh

Things I'm looking forward to!

Image
Today I thought I'd write a post about the things I'm looking forward to, as there are quite a few in the next few months! First, I want to say thanks to L. G. Keltner for awarding me the Fabulous Blog Ribbon and the Be Inspired award. Thanks! Now for the things I'm looking forward to: 1. Going to Centerparcs in September with my mum and sister, it'll be nice to get away for a while and spend some time with them. We can't afford to do a lot of the activities and things, but it'll be a nice time to relax and at least the pool is free! 2. Going to Bruges in November for the Christmas market with my mum and sister - I absolutely love Christmas so I can't wait for this, we'll only be going for a couple of days with a group of people from work, but apparently there's ice skating and everything so it should be lots of fun. 3. The Sims 3 Supernatural comes out in September, and I can't wait to play it! It sounds really good, and should giv

Abandon by Meg Cabot!

Image
I've always been a fan of Meg Cabot's novels, so I was really excited when I saw this one on sale and bought it right away. It had an interesting premise, and looked like it would make a really good read. Here is the synopsis from Goodreads : Last year, Pierce died - just for a moment. And when she was in the space between life and death, she met John: tall dark and terrifying, it’s his job to usher souls from one realm to the next. There’s a fierce attraction between them, but Pierce knows that if she allows herself to fall for John she will be doomed to a life of shadows and loneliness in the underworld. But now things are getting dangerous for her, and her only hope is to do exactly what John says… Favourite Character:  My favourite character was John, unsurprisingly! He's a flawed character, and those are the characters I like best!  Least favourite Character: Pierce's grandmother was my least favourite character; she wasn't a very likeable ch

My Goals for August!

Ok, so July seemed to fly by really fast for me, I can't believe it's August already! That means it's time for my monthly goal post. You can find the one for July here . My first goal for July was to stop indulging my sweet tooth so much, and although I've still been munching on the odd sweet thing, I certainly haven't indulged myself as much as I did in July, so that's good. My second goal was to learn a full song on the keyboard, and I failed dismally. I started off really well, and learnt about half of it in a week, and then just lost motivation completely. My third goal was to read at least two books on the unread pile on my bookshelf, which I actually managed to do! I actually did this one really well, I managed to read 3 full books and I'm halfway through another. My fourth goal was to work on my Water short story and try to turn it into a novel, and this was quite successful because I'm actually taking part in Camp NaNoWriMo this month, an
