Celebrate the Small Things

Image
Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly bloghop hosted by Viklit over at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author . The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week. This week I'm celebrating:  - The arrival of my sister's kittens. I can't believe how tiny they are! You'd think I'd be used to it, since Misty was a kitten last year, but she seems huge now compared to them.  - Progress! I'm two chapters into my rewrite, and I'll hopefully be working on the third tonight.  - My boyfriend treated me to a three course meal (at a pub, nowhere too posh) on Wednesday and it was lovely. It made a nice change, since usually when I visit him we stay in and watch TV. We were both so full once we'd finished, though.  - Firefly. I started watching it again on Wednesday while I was babysitting the kittens, and I loved it. The only problem is, I don't own a copy myself so I can only watch it when I'm at my sister's house (

What's Up Wednesday

What’s Up Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Erin L Funk and Jaime Morrow , and the idea is to let other bloggers know where you are with any writing and reading goals you may have. What I'm reading I finished reading Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake, and it was a great sequel. My favourite scene was the forest scene, has anyone read it? I found it so scary, I was reading it in bed and I actually hid under my covers a couple of times. Creepy stuff!  I'm currently reading A Witch In Love  by Ruth Warburton, which is OK. It's the second book in a series; I read the first one just after Christmas, and while it wasn't brilliant I'd still like to know what happens in the rest of the series. Plus, since it's about witches it counts as research for my NaNo novel. What I'm writing Right now I'm working on revisions for my NaNo novel, Hunted. I'm rewriting the whole thing, and I've done two chapters so far. I was hoping to ge

This week I'm celebrating:  - The lovely weather we've been having. I'm a winter girl at heart, but I have to admit it's been nice to see some summer sunshine (even if I do get a little tetchy when I'm too hot) - Another  bank holiday on Monday means I get three days off instead of my usual two again. I'm planning on spending the day writing - something I haven't been able to do in months.  - Making progress on my rewrites - I've only done a scene and a half, but that's better than not doing any at all.

What I'm reading While I was on holiday last week I finished reading Game On by Kyra Lennon, Half Bad by Sally Green, Forgiven by Rachel Morgan and Supernaturally by Kiersten White.  Game On was just as good as I expected it to be - I really should have read it sooner. I really enjoyed Half Bad, the main character reminded me a little of Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye. Forgiven was a novella that I got free off Amazon, and it was great. I loved the Creepy Hollow series written by Rachel Morgan, so it was nice to read something else by her. Supernaturally was great, it's taken me a long time to getting around to reading it but it was well worth the wait. I can't wait to read the next in the series.  Right now I'm reading Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Bla

Since I just got back from my holiday to Centerparcs, my celebrations are mostly focused on that, so this week I'm celebrating: - Sweet potato fries - I tried them for the first time this week, and they are so good! I'll definitely be attempting to make my own.  - The weather this week, which has been beautiful for most of our holiday.  - The amount of nature I saw - squirrels everywhere, lots of birds and beautiful plants and trees everywhere.  - Starbucks frappuccinos. Yum! - Spending time with my family.  - The lovely reaction I got from my cat, Misty, when I got home today. She was very happy to see me!

This week I'm celebrating: - The three days off I had this week - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It was a bank holiday on Monday, so I got the day off, and it was great. I went shopping with my mum and her boyfriend, then we went to a garden centre for lunch.  - Getting back into a routine after the A to Z challenge. It's nice not to have so much to catch up on every time I come home from work - I've had a pretty relaxing week.  - I'm going on holiday next week, and I can't wait! It'll be nice to have a break from work and spend some time with my family. I'm not going to schedule any posts for the week, so the next time I'll be posting will be my next Celebrate post.

IWSG and What's Up Wednesday

April went so quickly, I can't believe it's May already! The Insecure Writer's Support Group was created by Alex J. Cavanaugh as a place where writers can talk about their insecurities once a month, and receive encouragement and support from other writers. It's such an amazing group, it even has its own website now, which you can visit here . Now that the A to Z challenge is over, I can focus on my NaNo novel - I've been trying to find time to get started on edits and revisions for months now. It seems one thing after another crops up so I can't get started properly - illness, work, blogging.  However, I'm determined to get started on them properly this month. I'm going on holiday next week, but I'm hoping to do a little before I go, so that I'll have a place to start from when I get back. Otherwise I'll just keep pushing back and I'll never start them.  So that's really all I'm insecure about today - first actual

A to Z Reflections

All in all, I think it was another successful A to Z Challenge - I certainly enjoyed myself! I loved my theme, and I'm glad I chose it since a lot of bloggers seemed to enjoy it. I got all of my posts written and scheduled before the challenge began, which always makes it easier. However, I still didn't visit as many bloggers as I would have liked. I barely met any new bloggers during the challenge, which is a pity. I did find a few new blogs to follow, though, and I'm glad I did. I was an A-Z Tech for M. J. Joachim this year, which made the challenge a little tougher, but it's more satisfying knowing I managed to successfully finish the challenge while helping out. My only disappointment about the challenge this year was that there were a few bloggers who didn't return comments, even if I commented on their blogs every day. I admit, I wasn't brilliant at commenting back but I tried as hard as I could, and I think I managed to visit most of the blogger

The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week.I haven't participated in a couple of weeks, what with the A to Z, but I'm getting back to my normal routine now. This week I'm celebrating: - Making it through the A to Z challenge! It was another great challenge, and I'm really glad I participated again. - Monday is a bank holiday next week, so that means I get three days off instead of my usual two (Tuesday and Wednesday). I'm ridiculously excited about that! I usually spend my days off driving to Grimsby (my old home town, about an hour away from where I live now) to see my boyfriend and my sister, so it'll be nice to have a day off where I don't have to go anywhere. - My boyfriend and I just booked a holiday to Centerparcs (a nature/activity type holiday here in the UK) in September, and I can't wait! It's th

Goals for May

I didn't do a "Goals" post for April, since I knew I'd be so busy with the A to Z challenge - and I was right! I'm glad I didn't set myself any goals. Here are my goals for May: - Start revisions on my Nano novel - I've been wanting to get started on these for months now, but I just haven't had the time. Now that the A to Z is over, I shouldn't have any trouble getting started with these. - Read 6 books - I'm two books behind for my Goodreads reading challenge, so I need to get a move on and read more. I'm going on holiday for a week this month, so hopefully I'll get plenty of reading done there. - Write every day - I haven't been writing much lately at all, so I need to get back into the habit of writing every day.
