The Next Big Thing Award!

I've been tagged in the Next Big Thing award by Laura from Stranger Than Writing, thanks Laura! Please check out her awesome blog :)
This award involves answering questions about my latest project, so I guess I'll use my Camp NaNo novel!

What is the working title of your book?
I actually don't have one; it's been "Untitled" since I first started planning it! I'm really going to have to sit down and think of one, but it's very hard! I'm hoping eventually an awesome idea will just come to me.

Where did the idea come from?
The original idea was completely different, I don't fully remember where it came from, but eventually it just morphed into the story I have now! I think I just thought that it would be interesting if I had characters who could control elements (elementalists) and then I started exploring what powers they would have, and then fit their world around them.

What genre does your book fall under?
At the minute fantasy, but I think this might change during edits! I don't really like the world that my characters are in, so I might change the whole thing, and fit them into our world.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie?
Oh I really don't know, I'm terrible at questions like this!

What is the one sentence synopsis of your book?
Alexia has had an affinity with water for as long as she remembers, and now that she's thirteen she can finally develop her powers, starting a journey that will teach her not only how to use them, but about friendship, hope, and to never give up, no matter what.

Will your books be self-published or represented by an agency?
It's far too early for this question!

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
It took me thirty days; I wrote it during August's Camp NaNoWriMo :)

Who or what inspired you to write this book?
The blogging community; that's essentially the thing that made me passionate about writing, and gave me the confidence to try. I heard about Camp NaNo, and a lot of my blogging friends were doing it so it inspired me to give it a try, although I don't think I expected to actually succeed! So thanks, everyone :)

What else about you book would pique the reader's interests?
There are a lot of issues being dealt with in the story, and one of the main themes is never giving up, which I think a lot of people can relate with. I also think people would enjoy reading about the powers that the characters have, which develop throughout the story.

  9. Hey, I think "The Elementalists" could be a fun working title. I dig the idea of superpowers based on nature, too. Cool ideas!
