My Goals for September!
Time for my monthly goal post again, August went so quickly! The air's starting to get a little cooler here, which I am immensely relieved about; I'm fed up of being too hot!
I think I did pretty well on last months goals, which you can find here.
Last month's goals:
1. Get more overtime; I tried to get more overtime, but we've not been busy at all at work recently, and I spent most of August rushing home to write for Camp NaNo! It's getting much busier now though, and I already have myself down for extra overtime, which is going to kill me but hopefully it'll be worth it!
2. Finish Camp NaNo - check! I succeeded in writing 50000 words by the end of August, and I'm very proud of that achievement!
3. Writing my entry for the What if? Fairytale Blogfest - I did this in time for the deadline, and you can find my entry here.
4. Read more books - I read another couple from my unread pile, which is good. I only have about 5 more in my unread pile now, which means I can go back to my old favourites!
5. Keep up with my blog during Camp NaNo - I didn't do so well with this goal, but I didn't stop blogging completely, so that's a plus! I missed most of my Saturday posts, but I managed to carry on posting on Mondays and Thursdays, so it wasn't too bad.
Overall, I think I did pretty well with my goals in August, but hopefully I can do a little better in September. Here are my September goals:
1. Pursue a Masters degree in Creative Writing - this is a very recent goal for me, but last week I got an email from prospects and it reminded me that in January I was thinking of doing a Masters degree, and the idea has taken hold of me again! It's a hard goal to pursue, because I didn't get the best honours degree (I got a 2:2) and if I do get onto a course, it'll cost me a lot and I'll have to get a loan from the bank. However, I'm determined!
2. Get more overtime in - should be easier this month, because we always get busier in September. In fact, we shouldn't quiet down until after Christmas, now, so lots of opportunities for overtime! I need it more than ever now, because of goal number 1!
3. Practise my keyboard - I didn't practise at all in August, so I need to get motivated again this month!
4. Read - as always, continue to read plenty of books, and review them for you!
5. Get back into my blogging schedule - now that Camp NaNo's over, I'll have time to write more flash fiction for Saturday's posts.
6. Have an awesome time at Centerparcs! I'll be going on the 17th for a week with my mum and sister, and we're going to have such a good time! It'll be nice to get away for a bit and relax. During this week, I'll probably not be posting, unless I get a chance to update while I'm there.
So there we have it, my goals for September! Oh, I have one more; play The Sims 3 Supernatural lots, since it comes out tomorrow! Hopefully it won't get in the way of my other goals...

Best of luck with all of these goals for the month Laura, well done on doing so well with your August ones too, great job.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteGood luck with these goals, I hope to see you blogging more :) x
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteA Masters degree in Creative Writing sounds like a big goal. It is a real shame these things are so expensive to do these days.... But I reckon you will do it if you take it on. Just tell the bank they can have 10% of the royalties to your best selling novel to pay off the bank loan and you will call it quits at that.
ReplyDeleteI know, it would be so much easier if I could do it for free! Haha I might just do that, it could work! :)
DeleteThe Sims 3 Supernatural?! How did I miss that? I think I know how I'm going to be spending September. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYup, my copy came today and that's my future decided! :)
DeleteGood luck with your goals this month Laura :) Especially the masters degree, wow!
ReplyDeleteI've tagged you in the 'The Next Big Thing' meme on my blog to.

DeleteWow, a Masters degree in Creative Writing would be amazing! Don't give up on your dream.
