IWSG

The Insecure Writer's Support Group was created by Alex J. Cavanaugh as a place where writers can talk about their insecurities once a month, and receive encouragement and support from other writers.

The major thing that I'm insecure about this month is my dissertation. It's pretty much finished now, I just need to do a few last minute things and then get it bound and it'll be ready to hand in. I'm really pleased with the feedback I got from my tutor last week - he said that my writing had improved a lot since the start of the course, which is obviously great news.

Despite this, I'm really nervous about actually handing the dissertation in. I feel like I've done as much as I can to it at this point, but I'm nervous in case it's not enough. Hopefully it'll be fine, and I'll get a good mark on it. I certainly feel like I've worked on it hard enough and for long enough to earn a good grade, so hopefully my tutors feel the same way! The stories have worked out well in my opinion - some better than I ever expected.

Hopefully I'm just worrying over nothing.

  16. I find that I do better when I rehearse like crazy, then take the final 24 hours before show time and shut it down. Gives the brain and body a chance to rest and I actually perform better.

  25. I have a feeling that with your hard work and good comments from your tutors that it will be just fine. I certainly understand your nervousness, though. I've never written a dissertation, so just the word (and the thought of the work) scares me. Best of luck to you!

  26. Congratulations on completing your dissertation. And I'm sure, if your tutor thinks your writing has improved, it will be well received. Being nervous about it is a good sign though, it show you care and are passionate about it!

    Good luck!

  28. I always thought a HUGE part of college was being prepared and able to argue your grades with you professor. I mean, some will give you the cold treatment, but most are open to negotiate if you can present a compelling argument. So there's the back up, right? A persuasive argument.

But you won't need it. You won't. ;)
