The Insecure Writer's Support Group was created by Alex J. Cavanaugh as a place where writers can talk about their insecurities once a month, and receive encouragement and support from other writers.

The major thing that I'm insecure about this month is my dissertation. It's pretty much finished now, I just need to do a few last minute things and then get it bound and it'll be ready to hand in. I'm really pleased with the feedback I got from my tutor last week - he said that my writing had improved a lot since the start of the course, which is obviously great news.

Despite this, I'm really nervous about actually handing the dissertation in. I feel like I've done as much as I can to it at this point, but I'm nervous in case it's not enough. Hopefully it'll be fine, and I'll get a good mark on it. I certainly feel like I've worked on it hard enough and for long enough to earn a good grade, so hopefully my tutors feel the same way! The stories have worked out well in my opinion - some better than I ever expected.

Hopefully I'm just worrying over nothing.

  15. I find that I do better when I rehearse like crazy, then take the final 24 hours before show time and shut it down. Gives the brain and body a chance to rest and I actually perform better.

  25. Congratulations on completing your dissertation. And I'm sure, if your tutor thinks your writing has improved, it will be well received. Being nervous about it is a good sign though, it show you care and are passionate about it!

    Good luck!

  27. I always thought a HUGE part of college was being prepared and able to argue your grades with you professor. I mean, some will give you the cold treatment, but most are open to negotiate if you can present a compelling argument. So there's the back up, right? A persuasive argument.

But you won't need it. You won't. ;)
