Z is for...Zzzz!

No matter how hard I tried, I could not come up with a word for Z that had anything to do with fairy tales, so I chose "Zzzz" because now that the challenge has come to an end, I can relax! So in this post, I'm going to do a little summary of my A to Z posts, and what I've learnt throughout the challenge.

I've also learnt that fairy tales can be for adults as well as children, especially the earlier versions which are not suitable for children at all! I've learnt that I much prefer the earlier versions, which are much more violent and don't always include happy endings. There are also a lot of different versions of the same fairy tale - Brothers Grimm, Disney, Roald Dahl, and lots of others. It's interesting seeing the same events unfold in such different ways in each tale.

I've learnt that I would absolutely love to live in a Castle with my very own pet dragon, with a fairy godmother and prince charming for company!

I've learnt that fairy tale villains are always very scary and evil, but are always defeated in one way or another. I believe that evil Witches or Stepmothers make the best villains in fairy tales.

Love is a huge theme in fairy tales, as are Happily Ever Afters and Magic. I've learnt that ugly ducklings always turn into beautiful swans if they persevere, and I've learnt that kisses are magical.
So that's it, the end of the challenge, and I hope you've all enjoyed my fairy tale themed posts, and learnt something new like I have. Also, thank you to all of my followers and everyone who has been reading my posts and commenting, because all of your comments are greatly appreciated and have helped my get through the challenge. Thanks everyone! :)

  1. Aww thank you! I've loved reading your posts throughout this challenge!

And you could always have the Z for Zzz in that you read them as bedtime stories? That's what my folks did for me anyway lol!

    1. I'm glad you've enjoyed them! Oh that's a good idea, fairy tales make great bedtime stories! I guess I never thought of it because I didn't associate them with bedtime...but it seems quite obvious now! :)

  2. Well done on getting to Z. I guess King Kong does not quite count as a fairy tale.

  7. As a stepmom, I sometimes get perturbed to be painted the villain in fairy tales. But, witches & evil stepmothers do make for great villains. And besides, the stepmother role in fairy tales inspired my secret nickname (that my stepdaughter gave me to her friends; I'm not sure if she ever knew that I knew she called me this): The Wicked StepMonster. I can laugh about it now b/c our relationship has, thus far, survived and is actually pretty nice now.

    Congrats on finishing the challenge!

  8. I would absolutely love to live in a Castle with my very own pet dragon, with a fairy godmother and prince charming for company too and fairy tales, happily ever afters and magic could still happen, even at my age. Anyway that's what I would like to believe to. Anything magical and mysterious is beautiful to me still....lovely post. I'll need to spend time reading your A-Y since I just read the Z, lol.

  9. One of the reasons why I loved writing about fairy tales so much is because I would love it all to happen in real life! Thanks for visiting, and for the kind words :)

  10. Lovely posts Laura- I like the dark old tales best too! Would love a dragon as a pet but fear that keeping a castle clean and warm might be an arduous task. Although the view from the turret might be worth it! :-)

    1. Thanks! Well I figure since I'm rich enough to have a castle, I could afford a couple of people to keep the fires going for me, or I could just use the dragon for that! :)
