X is for...Kiss!

Yes I know, I'm cheating a little with this one, but I couldn't think of anything beginning with X that has anything to do with fairy tales! In fact, I'm pretty impressed with myself for coming up with 'Kiss'!
Kisses are a lot more common in more recent versions of fairy tales. Here are a few important fairy tale kisses:

Sleeping Beauty is originally put under a curse that involves her dying at a certain age. A benevolent fairy godmother changes the curse as a gift to Sleeping Beauty, meaning that instead of dying, she will fall into a deep sleep,  only being woken by true love's first kiss. One day, a handsome prince stumbles across the castle that Sleeping Beauty is in, and finds her lying on the bed. He finds her so beautiful that he kisses her, which wakes her up. The two then fall madly in love and get married and live happily ever after.

Another important kissing scene is the one in Snow White. As you all probably know, Snow White eats a poisoned apple, given to her by her stepmother, and falls into a deep sleep. The dwarves that she lives with can't bear to cover her beautiful face, so they place her into a glass coffin. One day a handsome prince sees the beautiful girl, and kisses her. This immediately wakes Snow White up, and she falls in love with her prince and they get married and live happily ever after.

Last but not least, the kiss in Shrek! Princess Fiona is locked away in a tour by her parents, because she turns into an ogre at night and it is prophesied that the only way she will be restored back to her normal form is by receiving true love's first kiss. However, when she eventually kisses Shrek, instead of turning back into a beautiful princess, she stays in her ogre form, which is clearly her 'love's true form' because her true love is Shrek.
So, there you have my cheating 'X' post, hope you enjoyed it!

  2. I'm impressed too! I love how Fiona stayed as an ogre because it was so romantic! Also, didn't the dwarves find it strange that a guy wanted to kiss a corpse lol?

    1. Thanks! I loved that too, it just seemed more romantic than her keeping her usual form, because she's making a sacrifice for him :) And yes, I would have found that very strange, maybe he intimidated them because he was taller than them! :)

  3. Clever X post!

I can think of a few kisses that felt transformative, though they didn't lead to me living HEA. Still, they were great while they lasted! :-)
