K is for...Knights!

Let's be honest, every girl has at one point in her life dreamed of her Knight in Shining Armour coming and whisking her away to live happily ever after.

I know Knights don't pop up in many fairy tales, but I wanted to include them because they are similar to prince charming. (And because I didn't have anything else for K!) A common theme in fairy tales is the prince who saves the 'damsel in distress' from a horrible life, much like a Knight in shining armour. Fairy tales that contain knights in shining armour include Snow White, Rapunzel, Cinderella and The Little Mermaid.

I like the old cliché, where there's a damsel in distress locked in a tower, and no-one can get to her because of the dragon that guards the tower. Then along comes the Knight in shining armour, to slay the dragon and save the day! I particularly liked when this cliché was used in an unconventional way in Shrek!
And how can I mention Knights without mentioning A Knights Tale? I know it's not a fairy tale, but it's still a great movie that deserves a mention!
Ok, that's my slightly sub-standard post for today, but hopefully you enjoyed it all the same!

    1. Lol, me too!

Shrek is my favourite "fairy tale" if you can call it that, because it turns the Knight in shining armour thing on its head, and even though he doesn't look how she imagined, he is still right!

    2. That's one of the reasons why I love Shrek too! Goes with the whole 'Don't judge a book by its cover' saying :)

  8. I like this post, it's cute! I think sequels to "Happily Ever After" should be written because little girls tend to think that marriage is perfection. LOL...

    1. It is kind of misleading saying 'happily ever after', because that never happens!

  14. Hi, Loopy Loo! Wonder if anyone has ever considered how hot a knight gets in one of those tin cans they have to ride around in? Wouldn't that be a fun idea for a story? Haven't seen a Knight's Tale with Heath Ledger. I enjoyed your post. Haven't seen Here yet either. Just don't go to the movies much any more. What I see is on TV or Netflix. :)
    Best regards to you. Ruby
