D is for...Dragons!

I couldn't write about fairy tales and not include Dragons! They're not included in a lot of fairy tales, but I still think they can be classed as fairy tale creatures.

Ok, I had to add that last one because it's just so cute! I think dragons tend to pop up more in fantasy and quest-type stories, but I love the old cliché where Prince Charming has to save the Princess from a terrible fire breathing dragon, and then they live happily ever after! (Most recently seen in Shrek!) I love it when dragons pop up in stories - King Arthur stories have dragons in them, and then there's more recent things like Harry Potter (Hungarian Horntail, anyone?) and Game of Thrones, which I think is my favourite thing at the minute that includes dragons!
I also love dragons as a creature - they can fly, and they can breathe fire! If they really existed, we wouldn't have a chance! Although it would be nice to own one as a pet - you'd never have enemies then!
There's also a quote by G. K. Chesterton about dragons that I like, that I'll leave you with:
"Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed."

I hate how they're always killed in fairytales though! Well, except in Shrek of course lol

  4. Love dragons! Love the quote, "Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed." It's one of my all-time favorites.

And since I tie everything back to movies..."How to Train Your Dragon" is awesomesauce.

  6. I've been meaning to watch Game of Thrones for a while. I feel like everyone but me has seen the show (which is probably the case).

But, if you love dragons, then you should invest in some Skyrim. Although you have to slay the dragons in that game.

  10. Dragons can be killed? Next you'll tell us there is no Easter Bunny...

    1. But it's like, impossible to kill a dragon because they're so awesome, so it doesn't matter :) And of course there's an Easter Bunny, who else would deliver the Easter eggs?
